Lareva May Jarrett came into the Glessner family on Saturday, November 17, 2007. On that day, Glenn Glessner and Lareva Jarrett were married at 2:00PM in Central Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois.
Lareva May Beckman was born on August 24, 1937 at St. Mary's Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was the fourth and last child of Arthur William Beckman Sr. and Nora May Johnson Beckman. Lareva's mother and father divorced when she was six months old and her childhood was spent on a 40 acre farm with her mother and older sister, Irene and two older brothers, William (Bill) and Ercil. The farm was located on Highway 6 southwest of Taylor, Missouri.
When Lareva was about five years old, her mother and the rest of the family moved from the farm on Highway 6 to Palmyra, Missouri, where they lived in an apartment on Main street just across from the courthouse. Lareva entered grade school in Palmyra and completed first grade there. After one year of schooling in Palmyra, Lareva and the rest of the Beckman family moved to Quincy, Illinois. She continued her grade school education in Quincy and then entered high school. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1955.
Lareva's working career started as a nurses aide when she was 16 years old and still in high school. In 1985, she graduated from John Wood Community Nursing School as an LPN and went to work at Blessing Hospital. She worked there until her retirement in 2002.
Lareva married her first husband, George Jarrett in Quincy, Illinois on December 30, 1955. From that marriage, she had three sons and one daughter. Bill was born first, Brad followed next and before too long, the two brothers acquired a new sister, Bev. B.J. Jarrett came later, with him being the youngest of their four offspring. All of Lareva's children married and from those marriages, she acquired ten grandchildren over a period of several years.
After 39 years of marriage, Lareva's first husband, George, passed away on April 20, 1995. Lareva was a widow for a little over 12 years and again decided to take the big step. She became engaged to Glenn Glessner on January 1, 2007 and the two of them married on November 17, 2007. Both are now living together in Quincy, Illinois.
